BRISTOL YOUTH FLAG

FOOTBALL LEAGUE

RULES AND REGULATIONS

As reported to Sarah Klein Town of Bristol Parks And Recreation Director,

     As we discussed, here’s some information as to our safety plans for the upcoming fall town youth flag football season. As I mentioned, our league is set up well for the CDC regulations and Governor’s recommendations in Phase II but even more so as it has been reported we will going into to Phase III.

Some of our typical game play already follows these recommendations;

  • Keeping the teams small in numbers

  • Playing with 5 players from each team on that field at one time

  • Having a large playing field to spread players apart

  • Having the opposing team start about 5 yards apart from each other

  • Encouraging our players to avoid direct contact from each other when playing

  • Having close oversight of all coaches and league activities to ensure safety, consistency and fair gameplay

  • Having all league practices, games and events held under the supervision of the league commissioner

  •

In addition;

  • All league officials, coaches and refs will wear masks according to the current Phase recommendations

  • Balls will be wiped down between games

  • Refs will use electronic whistles

  • There will be a large sanitizer station at the field

  • Recommend all players to wear gloves (which would avoid them putting their hands in their mouths until after the game)

  • Recommend kids/coaches/family members/spectators to stay home if they are not feeling well

  • Stagger division’s start times to reduce the number of families at the fields at a time

  • Require families/spectators to wear masks at all times

  • Recommend kids to wear a mask to and from the field

  • Provide designated areas for families and our players around the fields to ensure social distancing

   We anticipate having approximately 80-90 kids over 3 divisions. We already have about 70 kids signed up from our cancelled Spring session who decided to transfer their registrations to the fall and will encourage online registrations for this year. We will also separate our practices by divisions, use social distancing and wear masks when not active. I hope this helps.

   We are all very excited to get this league going again!!!
